usually when peole know that we are adopting one of the first thing that they say is "Oh, i'm sorry.... you coudn't have you own children."For some reason I think that they feel sorry for us but for us adopting has always been one of our dreams and we are blessed to be able to adopt. ;o)

Our file has left the province friday and is now going to our agencie Kids Link in Ontario. In two to three weeks our file should be in Ethiopia and we will be "officially expecting". ;o)

Well today was a rainy day all day so....... that means shopping for sales!!!!! ;o) This is the school supplies that I have bought at Superstore to bring to different schools in Ethiopia.............everything was on sale :

-260 Pencils (0.24$ for a pack of 10)

-6 box of colouring pencil (1.47$)

-70 erasers ( 0.24 for 5)

-10 packs of 24 Crayola crayons(0.84$)

and

-60 pens(0.84$)

With the different fundraising that we have been doing for the orphanage of our kids, I'm able to buy different things..... Here is some of the things that we have so far. The sneakers, shirts, and sports stuff all 2$ each, socks 1$ at Wal Mart. Jump Ropes, 0.50$ at Supperstore and the baby stuff around 1-2$ each on sale with extra coupons!!! We will also be bringing cloth diapers, baby clothes and school supplies... a little of everything.

We are done our home study!!!!

We meet with Marg. on Thursday in Fredericton for our second part of our home study. Everything went well. She will finish our home study report in the next week and will then send it to Moncton for final approval. After that it's going to Fredericton then to our agencie, Kids Links. ;o)

HOME STUDY PART 1

We had our home study part 1 of 2 yesterday with Marg. at our house. The day went by fast and before we knew it it was 4 o'clock! We are going to Fredericton Thursday to do the other part. Then she will do a report and get it approved in Moncton, then Fredericton then it's off to our agencie!!!!

A country where poverty and destitution is at its highest level. The most recent Human Development Report issued by the World Bank indicates that Ethiopia ranks 169th from among the 174 countries of the world.
A country of approximately 33 million people.

49% of the population lives on less than $1.00 a day.

75% of the population suffers from communicable disease and malnutrition. This equates to 25 million people who go hungry every day...most of which are children.

62% of the male population and 77% of the female population do not have any level of education.

Less than 3% of the male and 1% of the female population have completed elementary school.

Only 15% of the population has access to running water, while 82% do not have a toilet facility or washroom.

Lisa, Pierre, Karelle and Marika are home!!!! Wow what an amazing feeling!! We all had tears in our eyes!!! Before going to the airport to Welcome the Goguen family, our group (families that are also adopting from Ethiopia ) went out to eat at Monthana's. It was really nice to meet everyone for the first time. It's really nice to have a big extended family!! Shawn and I had a great time! Here is some pics of that night.

Our social worker is back from vacation. She told me today that she should contact me tomorrow with a start date for our home study!!!! youhou..... every baby steps counts!!!!

We will have the final paper that we need in order to start our home study tomorrow!!! We've been waiting for this paper for over a month and a half. Yippi!!!! We took tomorrow off as we need to go for a lot of blood test at the hospital so we will drop it off to Genevieve so we can start our home study faster.

Saturday morning I went to a yardsale (baby yardsale!!!) you should see what I got for 10$ !!! I bought a 3-d activity gym new still in it's original plastic with the instructions, some fisherprice games/toys, alot of clothes (0.25$ each!!!) and alot of shoes, those also at 0.25$ !!!! The little outfit with jeans (leopard and other colour)is my favorite!

TRAVEL SHOTS (VON)

Yesterday we went for the yellow fever (need this one to enter Ethiopia) and some other shots at VON travel clinic. We will go again for the polio shot as they didn't have any in stock. Friday 13 of July we are going to have some blood work done at the hospital. They are checking for all sorts of things. After this hopefully all the tests will be done!!! Next week I'm having my auction at work.... so far I have over 30 things to auction off .. from diamond gold ring to pizza coupons to partylite products. Hopefully I will be able to raise alot of money for the orphanage of our child or children. I had put a few weeks back in the church bulletin that I will be collecting things to put in our fundraising yardsale to help us with the cost of the adoption. So far we have over 8 families that gave us stuff. That's amazing!!! The yardsale will the this Saturday July 14.

I'm working on the auction fundraiser that I will be having next month at my work. People and business have been generous towards this cause. The money raised will go to the orphange of our daughter or children. So far we have a partylite lantern, pizza from pizza hut, boston pizza and Norm's pizza. Tools from princess auto, radio/flashlight from Medavie Blue Cross, golf balls from Scotiabank, homemade wine, hand carved bowl and more.... Hopefully we will raised alot of $$.

PAPER WORKS FOR THIS MONTH AND FUNDRAISING

Sorry for the lack of post. We've been super buzzy. We have done alot of paper work this month. We did all the paper work needed (questionnaires and forms) for our social worker so that we can start our home study. We went to the police station for security clerance and criminal record check, to the other police station for our finger prints, dr apt for our medical and did two fundraising activities. We raised over 200$ with our Father's Day basket !!! youhou !!!! The winner of the basket is a woman that works at Blue Cross. I also did a pizza sale at my work. Last Saturday was a very sunny and warm day... perfect for us as we did a yardsale.

Next month we are going for our yellow fever shot at VON and other shots that we will need to travel to Ethiopia. We also have our series of blood work at the hospital... like 15 tests... they sure want us to be healthy!!!!!

Here is the picture of our Father's day basket. With the help of our family and the community we were able to make this basket worth over 250.00$ !!!! I have only started to sell tickets today and it's already going well! This is what we have in the basket:

I will be colleting items to put into my Father's Day Basket. So far we have a bottle of Rum that we bought on our last trip to the DR. mmm that Rum is very good!!!, movies passes, cigars from Cuba and my dad just gave us some Canadian Tire money so that we could buy a gift card to put into the basket! Thanks Papa!!!

We will be collecting CANADIAN TIRE MONEY during this year so that anytime we have a raffle basket we will be able to go buy things with the money or to buy some gift cards. If you would like to donate some of your Canadian Tire money please send me an email.

Our first step in the adoption process!!!

It's official, we have sent the application forms to our adoption agency www.kids-link.ca on Friday! We have started to gather information paper that the agency will need to speed up the process. We have our first meeting with our social worker this Friday, May 25th.
